1. Be(get) hooked on + something

무언가에 꽂힌 / 빠진 / 중독된

ex) I was really hooked on European beer for a while but now I'm not really into anything in particular.

한동안 유럽 맥주에 꽂혔다가 지금은 딱히 어떤 특정 맥주를 좋아하지는 않아.

ex) I'm really into reading these days.

ex) I'm really hooked on this book these days.

 

2. get + (someone) + hooked on + (something)

누구를 무엇에 꽂히게 하다.

My sister is actually the one who got me hooked on investing in the first place. If it weren't for here, I never would've even thought of getting into it.

저를 애초에 투자에 빠지게 했던 것은 사실 누나였어요. 그녀가 아니었으면 발을 들일 생각조차 절대로 안했을 거예요.

 

3. be(get) hooked on + the idea of ...

I don't remember exactly how it all came together. All I remember is being hooked on the idea of being able to reach thousands of learners at the same time and I think that's still what motivates me to work hard.

어떻게 그런 결정에 이르게 되었는지 기억이 정확히는 안나지만, 수많은 학습자들에게 동시적으로 다가갈 수 있다는 생각에 꽂혔던 기억은 나요. 그리고 지금까지도 일을 열심히 하도록 동기가 되어 주는 것이 바로 그것인 것 같아요.

 

4. hook up

hook (someone) up with (someone/something)

ex) I hooked up with someone. 남녀로써 만났다, 엮였어.

ex) Hey, can you hook me up (with some)? 나를 좀 엮어줄 수 있어?

ex) A friend of mine is a used-cars salesman and he(she)hooked me up. 중고차 파는 친구 찬스를 썼어.

ex) He got hooked on drugs at an early age.

ex) He's hooked on skiing.

ex) She got hooked on the show after watching one episode.

ex) Don't give the kids any soda, I don't watn them hooked on caffeine at such a young age.
